Our team


Rachel has a background in natural health and for the last 9 years has been specialising in the area of occupational fatigue management. Rachel has regularly lead Fatigue Management Masterclasses and presented at a number of industry conferences speaking on the subject of fatigue management. Rachel facilitated NZ’s first research study on the prevalence of OSA in a Commercial Driver population, which was co-funded by ACC and the Log Transport Safety Council (LTSC). Rachel remains very involved with the LTSC’s efforts to identify & support high risk OSA drivers. Rachel currently sits on the Sleep Apnea Association of NZ (SAANZ) committee.


Sandra moved from the UK 8 years ago, where her work was primarily within the legal profession. Sandra’s legal work was mainly focused on helping vulnerable children. Since arriving in New Zealand, she has worked for a number of not for profit organisations. She also volunteers for a local charity called Bellyful. Sandra is really excited to be part of the Fit for Futy team, as she has a passion for helping people to be the best that they want to be.
Sandra works hand in hand with the Managing Director, Rachel Lehen to assist with Administration and the Program Coordination for the Company. 


Dr. Stuart Jones graduated from Otago University in 1995. He spent his initial post-graduate years working at Dunedin Hospital before taking up a post as respiratory research fellow at the Dunedin School of Medicine. In 2003 he graduated with a PhD from Otago University.

He commenced his respiratory specialist training in Dunedin before heading to the UK for a further 3 years of training based in Cambridge where he worked at the local university hospital (Addenbrookes) and at Papworth Hospital, a specialist cardio-respiratory unit. While at Papworth he trained in pulmonary hypertension and sleep medicine. He then went to Edinburgh where he worked as a sleep fellow at the Royal Infirmary.

He is currently a respiratory and general physician at Middlemore Hospital, specialising in general respiratory medicine, with a particular interest in sleep medicine, asthma and airway inflammation, and pulmonary hypertension. Dr Jones is engaged as Fit For Duty’s Senior Sleep Physician and provides clinical oversight of our Program.


Irene’s expertise and experience as a registered polysomnographic technologist who has worked in both the public and private sleep sector allows her to provide outstanding care to Fit for Duty’s clients. She provides close follow up with patients requiring CPAP therapy and address patient care and compliance needs. Irene was previously a clinical research scientist at a medical device company that manufactures masks and CPAP. She facilitated research around the world that aims to improve patient’s comfort and ease of use with CPAP therapy. She is currently completing her PhD at the University of Auckland, evaluating the relationship between OSA and hearing/balance.


Roy has extensive experience at a high level in sleep medicine. He completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sleep Medicine with Merit through Otago University in 2009, and completed post-graduate cardiology papers the following year. He has worked in both the public and private sector for over a decade, diagnosing and treating a wide range for sleep disorders. Roy has a keen mind and a passion for achieving the best outcomes possible for clients. With his attention to detail, significant clinical experience and friendly demeanour he will work hard to help people as much as he can.
